Intuitive Thoughts from Teresa

I am totally enjoying my holiday gift of Yaktrax the incredible ice traction device for shoes and boots that stops you from slipping on ice and snow.

The Yaktrax are enabling me to fulfill my initial New Year intention of moving outside more. I am so glad I invested in the deluxe line. In deeper snow, you can easily and without awareness lose your yak track.

Cross Country SkiingA few days into 2010, my husband and I ushered in the New Year with an inaugural back country ski at our favorite trail. This ski embodied a peak mind/body and spiritual experience as my husband was able to fulfill his short term physical therapy goal to be back on skis.

For me, it was a physical testament to the power of intention upon healing.

You will discover that this ezine is packed with ideas and connections to support you in fulfilling your New Years dreams for growth.

This includes my upcoming meditation subscription service beginning January 31st. For many, February is when many of us have lost our footing and grounding with our new intentions, become overwhelmed, and abandon our hopes and dreams.

My intention for this weekly service is to provide you with a short am and pm meditation which you can use daily to get back and stay on track. They are meant to assist you with grounding, setting your intention for your days, and in nourishing your mind, body, and spirit as you grow into the change you envision for yourself in 2010.

You will be able to choose from the Birth Intuitive Pregnancy Meditation Series and the Living Intuitive Series. More information will be sent out in the next week or so. Watch for it. You won’t want to miss out on this wonderful tool.

Meanwhile, welcome to the power and creative possibilities awaiting you in 2010!!!.

Living Intuitive Observations

Growth and Change – Two Sides of the Same Coin

I believe that the energizing force that motivates many of us to create resolutions in the New Year is fueled by our deep desires for growth.

This gravitation towards growth and change, is encoded with us on a molecular cellular level. One could look at this as a definition of what it actually means to be alive.

Mom Hands on Pregnant BellySomehow, we often forget or overlook that it is inevitable that with growth comes change. They are the 2 sides of the same coin.

Ah, many of us become blinded by the anticipated joy of the growth, that we become amnesiac to the discomfort of the change that is inherent in growths attainment.

I believe that is why so many resolutions fail. We, after all, are creatures of habit and comfort. And, when the going gets hard, most of us chose the path of least resistance.

I believe one of the reasons that every New Year we aspire with intentions and goals, is that the date creates a line in the sand and, with it, a fresh start.

Another reason lies in the power of numbers. What an opportunity it is to use this time when our culture promotes change. Energetically it is easier to just get on the wave with everyone else.
This New Year’s Eve, an additional potent energetic boost was provided by the blue moon and a lunar eclipse.

I don’t about the rest of you but I have been pleasantly surprised to feel a big energy shift with 2010. It feels like a new year and a new decade and not just because the calendar flipped over to a new page.

This year instead of writing out a long list of goals, I am choosing to focus on energizing a single intention every 30-40 days. I am choosing to consciously complete one cycle of growth and change before beginning another.

It usually takes about 30 days to change a habit. Not because you need 30 days. You could do it in 68 seconds if you could once you did it hold your vibration there, but you have to consciously make that decision.”

~ Abraham (Excerpted from the workshop in Napa, CA on Sunday, March 2nd, 1997 #278)

My initial professional intention this year is to manifest the continued unfolding of my life purpose. I loved stumbling upon this quote as I was reading the Jan/Feb nexus magazine by Sue Frederick.
“This year, its time to use the powerful energy of a new decade to finally do what you came here to do.”

One of my favorite aspects in an unborn child reading is sharing with the parents their child’s life purpose–what this child coming in hopes to accomplish this lifetime.

This kind of consultation is not limited to unborn children. For any of you interested in learning more about your life purpose, think about investing in a life purpose session.

One of my all time favorite books for support in changing lifestyle habits is Andrew Weil’s
Eight Weeks to Optimum Health: A Proven Program for Taking Full Advantage of Your Body’s Natural Healing Power

The wisdom of this book and its ability to help you achieve success is that you are only asked to shift change one habit a week. The change may involve adding or releasing something to your daily awareness or diet.

Once you accomplish one change you feel empowered and reenergized to embark on the next.
Recently I experienced this within our household. For several years, our chiropractor has been urging my husband to stop dairy. All that happened was denial and resistance.

As part of my husbands healing journey, we amended his dairy choices to include lower fat choices. After learning that ghee wasnt so bad, and that the coconut milk tasted great on his cereal, last week, unprovoked, he switched from half and half to a soy creamer for his morning tea or coffee. These smaller changes have added up to him actually being pretty much dairy free.

As you transition, post holiday back into your daily lives, I invite you to chose one new intention.

Here’s to growing in 2010.

Meditation Tool

Meditation Tool for Change

As you begin to engage with the energy of change, I invite you to be aware of the words you are using to describe your process.

Do you think or use words that describe your journey as an exploration, growth and adventuring?
Or do you use those containing lack, pain, suffering or deprivation?
How do you feel when you use positive words of growth?
How does it feel to use the words of deprivation?

A simple example is to note the difference in:

“I am engaging in movement or exercise,” instead of, “I am going to/or need to work out.”

How and where do these 2 different statements affect your body? Your motivation? Your feelings of well being and joy?

Secondly, be aware of how you will measure your success and how will you validate yourself.

I would suggest creating more frequent interval markers of success and choosing validation that is healthy and supports you intention.

For Example if you are trying to eat better, rewarding yourself with a piece of cake may not be the best form of validation. Choosing something that supports your new behavior, such as a new pair of funky walking socks.

Thirdly, if you are desiring to remove something from your life; ask yourself what needs does that substance fill for you? How else can you get that need met?

For example, when I used to counsel teens to stop drinking pop, I would ask that question. What was it about the pop? Was it the carbonation? Or the sugar buzz? Or the caffeine that kept them needing to drink the pop? From there we could substitute more healthy routes of getting the caffeine-in green tea, or add seltzer to juice for the carbonation and sugar.

Lastily, you do not have to do this alone. Find a buddy. A buddy insures social support for long term success. Not only you will find more enjoyment, you have the opportunity to grow more deeply.

Heres to your intention for growth for the next 30-40 days. Enjoy your journey.

Recipe

Chinese-Style Spinach and Mushroom Soup (Bon Appétit | October 1997)

I have been enjoying this made with shitake mushrooms which increase immune function. I also substitute the spinach with any green leafy vegetable. Quick, easy, and very satisfying and nourishing. Also, it is an easy way to add a meat free meal to your week.

Prepration Time: Can be prepared in 45 minutes or less.
Yield: Serves 4

2 – 14.5 ounce cans vegetable broth
1-1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon oriental sesame oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced peeled fresh ginger
2 cups thinly sliced mushrooms (about 5 ounces)
1/2 pound firm tofu, cut into 1/2-inch pieces. Use GMO free, organic tofu.
1/2 10-ounce bag ready-to-use spinach leaves
3 green onions, chopped

Combine first 7 ingredients in large saucepan. Bring to boil over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and simmer until mushrooms are tender, about 5 minutes. Add tofu, spinach and green onions and simmer until spinach wilts and tofu is heated through, about 2 minutes. Season soup to taste with salt and pepper. Ladle soup into bowls and serve.

Honoring Your Child’s Spirit: Pre-birth Bonding and Communication

by Flo Aeveia Magdelena

Check out the contributing chapter written by Teresa!

Living Our Potential as Beings of Light

The family system is our first and most intimate experience of the world. It is where we learn about love, sharing, generosity, co-creation, and honoring—or about hate, reaction, fear, anger, and separation. The family may be a spiritual haven and a loving place of growth or a place of absent presence, where we physically live together but do not connect. We either make this connection and create a foundation in our childhood or spend our lives looking for it.

When parents establish a conscious heart/soul connection with their children and with each other, deeper levels of trust and safety are experienced. As we deepen our bonds, we are more sensitive to the subtle, nonverbal communication which we exchange at all times with all living organisms. Relationships are not bound by normal restrictions because the information sent via channels of sensory response are unaffected by language, beliefs, or convention. You are connected beyond earthly rules, and can therefore create a unique relationship that works for your family.
